Rentie Grove Community Cemetery

Tulsa

This cemetery is locked up tight. No way to get in. Website says there are 234 memorials here, but I couldn’t get in to see them. These pictures are the few I took from outside the gates. Located on South Harvard Street, just south of East 93rd Street, this cemetery was established in 1904. Named for the Rentie family that owned the ground, it contains the remains of mostly African Americans from the surrounding area.It is also rumored to contain the unmarked graves of many black individuals that died in the 1921 Race Riot that took place in Tulsa.
